How to Clean Your Candle Jar
Once your candle has burned down, you can easily clean and repurpose the jar by following these simple steps.
REMOVE THE REAMINING WAX
- If less than 1 cm of wax remains, place the jar in the freezer for a few hours. The wax will shrink and can be easily popped out with a spoon or butter knife.
- Alternatively, pour hot (not boiling) water into the jar and let the wax float to the top as it cools. Once hardened, remove and discard the wax.
Do not pour melted wax down the sink—it can solidify and clog your pipes. Instead, dispose of it in the trash. - If the wick base remains stuck, pour a little warm water over it to loosen the adhesive, then gently pry it off with a spoon.
CLEAN THE JAR
- Wipe out any remaining residue with a paper towel.
- Wash the jar with warm, soapy water to remove any leftover wax or fragrance oils. Avoid scrubbing too hard if the jar has a label you want to keep.
REPURPOSE OR RECYCLE
- Your clean jar can now be reused!
- If you don’t want to repurpose it, check your local recycling guidelines and dispose of it responsibly.
